Currency

Three kinds of coin: gold dalers, silver talents and copper coins, where ten of one kind are worth one of the next.

First appears in chapter 2

The money in Anglien comes in three kinds of coin:

Ahra explains it to Chris on the ferry to Tés Aváir: ten coins of one kind are worth one coin of the next. It’s quite simple, he thinks.

The money does not count in the normal world. Ahra tries to buy something hot to drink in Kolding with a silver talent, but the shopkeeper takes it for a toy. In the Hitlaro Bank the coins are kept in the vaults.

What things cost

At Smedens Hule, a dagger costs one gold daler, and the smith takes the largest of Chris’s coins without counting. He does not sell the sword. The school pays for it. See swords and blood binding.

Chris has no money when he arrives in Déynáir, and that worries him. You can read how it gets solved in chapter 5.
